Bound in full navy Morocco with the covers displaying open-tooled bordering details, an indented central titular crest in gilt-tooling, and gold-plated floral corner caps with red Morocco detailing that attaches the original clamp hinges from the front to the back. The spine displays raised bands, open-tooled panel details, and gilt-tooled label lettering. All of the edges are gilded. Includes an abridgment of the commentaries of Scott and Henry, as well as many thousand critical and explanatory notes selected from the standard authors of Europe and America. The commentaries are condensed, and the whole is edited by Rev. John Eadie. Fully illustrated with photogravure, colored, and halftoned plates. Published by Peter Black in Manchester, circa 1880.
