Ancient Wrought Iron Sign with Eagle from the 18th century, Italian sign ready to hang in hand-forged wrought iron. A double frame shaped and decorated with scrolls, floral and vegetal motifs, encloses an eagle in the center, surmounted by an oval-shaped crown with acanthus leaves. The eagle is represented with the body facing and wings spread, in Greek and Latin mythology it is the bird sacred to Zeus, god of lightning and clouds.
The eagle is also a symbol of power, victory and prosperity. It is an ideal architectural element to make the entrance to a villa, an old farmhouse or a castle unique. Dating back to the late eighteenth century, this sign comes from Northern Italy but was purchased in Franciacorta. It is in good conservative condition, traces of golden decoration can be seen on both sides of the sign, minimal defects, two leaves. It is an ideal and unique architectural element for the entrance to a castle or an old farmhouse.
